    Our client, a 17-year-old boy, came to KPA after using another attorney for his trial on first-degree attempted murder charges. At that trial, with the other attorney by his side, our client was convicted of all charges and sentenced to 55 years in prison. After losing his appeal with yet another attorney, our client discovered our law firm. Ultimately, we were able to overturn his 55-year sentence and conviction utilizing a petition for post-conviction relief. After our involvement, our client was re-sentenced to just ten years.

    November 2019

    Our client was arrested for attempted first-degree murder by the Montgomery County Police. We were able to get him acquitted of all charges in State Court, and we successfully sued the arresting officers in Federal Court. After defeating a qualified immunity claim based on the police not having a valid arrest warrant, the county settled with our client for $300,000.00.

Criminal Case Study

Our client was charged with attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault, and various firearm charges. The State of Maryland offered our client a plea to the first-degree assault charges with an eight-to-fifteen-year sentence. After a four-day jury trial in the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, James Peters won an acquittal, and our client was found not guilty on all charges.

Personal Injury Case Study

Our elderly client's family came to us after their mother broke her arm in a car accident. Sadly, a month later, our elderly client died. However, we convinced their insurance company the car accident and resulting injuries caused our client's death. Even though our client did not die in the accident, the insurance company paid the policy maximum to our client's family without the need for a trial. This outcome is extremely rare because the only injury the accident caused directly was a broken wrist.
